Enabling Marine Enhancement

Marine enhancement projects can contribute toward the recovery and enhancement of the marine environment - and offer a range of benefits to society through the ecosystem services they provide.

To help realise these benefits we are introducing a simple form of agreement, known as a ‘non-commercial restoration licence’, which aims to:

clarify the permissions required for marine enhancement proposals
support marine enhancement in line with Scottish Government ambitions
help fulfil our duties with respect to sustainable development
