Crown Estate Scotland has today launched a long-term Vision for Glenlivet Estate, which will help to shape future decision making and investment into the Estate. 

Glenlivet Estate 2050 is a community-focussed programme which for the past two years has been exploring how the Estate might evolve over the next three decades. The new Vision and associated 5-year Action Plan will help to deliver the collective aims identified in this process.

About the project

Glenlivet Estate is a unique upland estate, rich in natural and cultural heritage and home to a wide range of enterprises and interests from farming and forestry to shooting, fishing, mountain biking, skiing, and whisky distilling.  

We asked people who live, work, or have an interest in the Estate to help us identify the key themes that were important to them, and we worked in partnership with other agencies to consider the environment, how land is used, and economic development in a joined-up way.  

Our Vision

We see Glenlivet Estate’s future as that of an exemplar estate: a place where people and the environment thrive together through effective collaboration and sustainable management. Through balanced land use and shared goals, we aim to support local businesses, enhance biodiversity, and achieve measurable reductions in carbon emissions.    

In practice this means that the Estate will make a positive contribution to the local economy and community by working together to deliver a more diversified estate, with better housing and buildings, viable tenant farming businesses, tourism which balances with environmental and community interests, and infrastructure to support these priorities into the future.      

Supporting our Corporate Plan

Our upcoming 2026-31 Corporate Plan aims to make sure that the work of our organisation is sustainable, inclusive and place based.  

The Glenlivet Estate 2050 programme serves as an example of how those goals can be reached. It will form a key part of the 2026-31 Corporate Plan, helping us to deliver across all three of its core missions:  Planet, People and Productivity.
