Crown Estate Scotland Moray farm available for let
Crown Estate Scotland’s first open market letting will be Byres Farm on the Fochabers Estate in Moray.
The farm extends to approximately 158.887 hectares of arable land (392.619 acres). Located 11 miles from Elgin, the house is an attractive detached category B listed two and a half storey dwelling.
The well-laid out and fully equipped productive mixed farm unit, including land, accommodation and agricultural buildings will be let on a 10 Year Modern Limited Duration Tenancy (MLDT), the new tenancy introduced on 30 November 2017 under the Land Reform Act 2016. Offers will be considered for the farm as a whole and consideration will also be given to offers that exclude Byres Farmhouse.
Andy Wells, Head of Property at Crown Estate Scotland said: “This is our first open market let since starting operation in April this year and we are keen to see submissions from a wide range of prospective tenants.
“We take great pride in nurturing strong relations with our tenants and working with them to succeed in improving productivity while enhancing the environment of the farm. We’re seeking a tenant who has a solid business plan which will enhance the farm’s productive capacity while also considering diversification and environmental initiatives.”
Crown Estate Scotland has around 220 agricultural tenancies across four estates. It’s recent initiatives to support farming tenants include a partnership with Moredun to help farmers access information on biosecurity and a project to trial new ways of ‘valuing’ nature and to assess the impact of decisions relating to farming land.
Tenders for this opportunity close on noon January 12 2018. More information is available from Savills, 7 The Square, Fochabers, Moray, IV32 7DG and at
