Helping to combat climate change was the main reason Sian chose to work in offshore renewable energy when she got her first job in the sector in 2006: she wanted to play a part in creating a sustainable energy supply. That commitment has never waned.
Sian’s role at Crown Estate Scotland means she leads on all offshore development activities for infrastructure and emerging technologies. These areas are all technically very different, at varying stages of commercial readiness, and have different drivers which makes for a very varied work day.
Sian firmly believes that infrastructure and emerging technologies are important in achieving decarbonisation - but also in accelerating decarbonisation, achieving transition of an entire workforce and creating complimentary technologies to create a balanced power network across the UK.
She is passionate about the positive role Crown Estate Scotland can play in the offshore sectors, particularly in the early stages of development. To this end, Sian works with colleagues, organisations and stakeholders across industry to identify common challenges, helping to make things simpler for developers so they can bring opportunities to market.
