Assistant Management Accountant

Crown Estate Scotland is recruiting for a permanent Assistant Management Accountant on a 0.6 FTE basis (22.2 hours per week). This role is based in our Edinburgh office. Please note that due to current COVID restrictions, we are all temporarily working remotely.
Crown Estate Scotland manages assets – seabed, coastline, rural estates and – that stretch the length and breadth of Scotland.
Our core purpose is investing in property, natural resources and people to generate lasting social, environmental and economic value for Scotland.
Crown Estate Scotland manages four types of assets with a combined value of £426.2m:
- Marine (Aquaculture; Energy & Infrastructure);
- Rural; and
- Buildings & Place.
We return all revenue profit to Scottish Government.

The successful applicant will provide support to the Finance Manager. The role covers financial processing, purchase and sales ledger maintenance, period-end adjustments (for example prepayments and accruals) and reconciliations and support on banking activities and transaction recording.
The role holder will assist with internal and external audit assignments, ensuring tasks are executed timeously and efficiently. They will also be expected to provide effective and efficient customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders.
The starting salary will be £23,833.74 with potential for future progression as well as eligibility for annual cost of living rises. The maximum salary for this role is currently £28,911.02. The role offers participation in the Civil Service pension scheme and study support to a relevant qualification may be available.
The successful applicant should have a degree or equivalent and be actively studying towards an accounting qualification or accreditation (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
The role holder should have recent relevant experience of (i) providing timely and accurate financial processing and support, and (ii) working in a professional office environment. Confidence in using Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial accounting and reporting software is essential.
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate detailed working knowledge of integrated ledger accounting systems and experience of analysing, translating and transforming large volumes of data.
